Everox Joins DETOCS Project

Amsterdam, 11 August 2023

Concrete upcycling start-up Everox (formerly C2CA Technology B.V.), in collaboration with industry partners and research institutions, has announced an ambitious project aimed at decarbonizing the cement industry. The initiative, DETOCS* (Data Enabling Transformation and Optimization towards Concrete Sustainability), aims to use digitalization and advanced predictive modeling to maximize the use of supplementary cementitious materials (SCM’s) in cement, a key pillar to decarbonize cement.

Through replacing cement powder (or clinker), SCM’s can reduce the carbon footprint of cement and concrete without compromising on performance. The key is to predict it accurately.

For Everox this partnership provides a unique opportunity to further refine its concrete recycling techniques specifically for the consistent production of activated recycled concrete fines and predicting their performance as a cement and concrete constituent.

"DETOCS will enable us to predict the best possible performance out of upcycled waste concrete, and develop know-how for our customers to use recycled materials, paving the way for market acceptance and deployment of our solutions.”

Thomas Petithuguenin

CEO at Everox

DETOCS has been granted ca. 3.3M€ by the EU, to fund doctoral projects hosted by industrial and academic partners, namely: FLSmidth, Cementos Argos, Everox, Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Erasmus University Rotterdam, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Environmental Coalition on Standards, ETH Zürich, Imperial College London, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, ParticleTech ApS, RWTH Aachen, Statwolf, TU Delft, University of Padova, Mannok Cement, University of Aberdeen, and Université Grenobles Alpes. While Breakthrough Energy, the German Cement Association, Kline Consulting, and Kompas Venture Capital compose the external advisory board.
