everox, Dura Vermeer and Techleap collaborate to accelerate circular construction
Rotterdam, 04 September 2026
Dutch circular construction technology company everox and its joint venture partner Dura Vermeer welcomed Constantijn van Oranje-Nassau, Co-Founder and Envoy of Techleap, at the everox headquarters for an exchange on how deep-tech innovation can accelerate the transition to circular and low-carbon construction materials. To make an even bigger impact on the discussion the everox shareholders, Lars Cramer, CEO of Innovation Quarter, Fred van Beuningen, Managing Partner of Chrysalix. Wim Nobel, programmamanager Circulair Zuid-Holland bij de Provincie Zuid-Holland joined the event.
The joint venture between Dura Vermeer and everox is developing the Netherlands’ first concrete upcycling plant, creating high-quality circular construction materials from waste concrete while significantly reducing CO₂ emissions and dependence on virgin gravel, sand and cement. In contrast to conventional concrete recycling, all the components of concrete are recovered with the patented everox upcycling process and can be reused in newly produced concrete. By combining cutting-edge technology with deep market expertise, the partnership lays the foundation for a new circular concrete market. Supported by Techleap, which helps Dutch deep-tech companies scale internationally, the initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of breakthrough technologies that strengthen both economic competitiveness and industrial sustainability.
“Technologies that address climate challenges while creating new industries are essential for Europe’s future competitiveness. The combination of deep technological innovation, industrial scalability and tangible environmental impact demonstrates how Dutch technology companies can contribute to solving global challenges while building new economic opportunities.”
The summit took place at the everox Garden, the company’s R&D centre in the Port of Rotterdam, where CEO Thomas Petithuguenin and his team demonstrated the pilot plant, testing facilities, and quality control lab, serving to test both, performance and economical validation of concrete waste from international partners. The process upcycles the material in four steps, ensuring a careful separation to maintain the performance properties of the natural aggregates and cementitious material: crushing, separation, liberation and activation.
“By recovering the original materials trapped inside concrete waste, we can create circular value chains, reduce dependence on virgin resources and enable a new generation of low-carbon construction materials. This is a critical step towards making concrete truly circular at scale.”
Discussions focused on the opportunity to transform the world’s largest construction waste stream into a valuable resource. Each year, more than 3.5 billion tons of concrete waste are landfilled or downcycled. The everox technology enables the full recovery of all concrete components for reuse in their original applications, creating local circular value chains, reducing emissions, and opening new markets for circular construction materials.
The key innovation is the ability to recover the valuable, cementitious content in concrete and produce an Activated Cement Paste (ACP), a low-carbon supplementary cementitious material (SCM). ACP can replace a significant share of a) cement in concrete or b) clinker in cement, significantly reducing associated CO₂ emissions. Together with Recycled Coarse Aggregates (RCA, recovered gravel), Recycled Fine Aggregates (RFA, recovered sand) and Fine Inert Filler (FIF, recovered fine inert filer), ACP enables the full reuse of concrete waste as new construction materials.
By recovering these materials close to where buildings and infrastructure are demolished and rebuilt, the technology reduces transport emissions, lowers demand for virgin raw materials, and helps protect natural habitats from further extraction.
“Making construction truly circular requires innovation, collaboration and market adoption. Together with everox, we are working towards our net zero ambition by transforming concrete waste into a valuable resource and laying the foundations for a new circular construction market in The Netherlands.”
